 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a great experience with Windy City HVAC Repair, specifically with the technician, Aaron M., who diagnosed and fixed a persistent issue with my 5-ton Lennox 3ACD-060-230 outdoor unit.

My condenser fan had been dropping out after about 30 minutes of runtime, making a whining noise, and only working again after I waited about 30 minutes before restarting the system. Another company had previously quoted me nearly $4,000 for a compressor replacement based on an elevated amp reading, without explaining the reasoning clearly or checking basic components first.

Aaron took the time to properly diagnose the actual problem. He waited a full 30 minutes on-site to personally witness the fan failure and confirm the issue before touching anything. He discovered a split, undersized capacitor (7.5 µF instead of the correct 10 µF) that had degraded further to just 2.2 µF, installed by a previous company instead of the OEM Lennox dual capacitor. He also found that the condenser fan motor itself was a generic aftermarket part rather than the correct OEM Lennox motor. He clearly explained what he found and why it mattered, and was patient and thorough in answering my questions throughout.

He installed the correct OEM Lennox parts (89M92 dual run capacitor and 12Y65 condenser fan motor), verified the new capacitor's actual capacitance after installation to confirm it was performing to spec, and then waited another full 30 minutes on-site to personally confirm the fan now ran continuously without tripping. That level of follow-through is rare, and it gave me real confidence the problem was actually solved rather than just guessed at.

The pricing was fair, especially combined with the Service Club membership discount, and I appreciated not being pushed toward the expensive compressor replacement the other company had recommended, which turned out to be unnecessary.
