Ductless Mini-Split Installation in Bolingbrook, IL

Ductless Mini-Split Installation by Windy City HVAC Repair

Windy City HVAC Repair installs Rheem and Durastar ductless mini-split heat pumps in Bolingbrook, all of Joliet and the nearby southwest suburbs. A mini-split heats and cools individual rooms without ductwork, which works well for additions, bonus rooms and basements. We’re an enrolled ComEd participating contractor; rebates are subject to change or the program may end.

Every house has that one room — the bonus room over the garage that bakes in July, the sunroom nobody uses in January, the finished basement that never feels quite right. A ductless mini-split heats and cools that space directly, without new ductwork and without overworking the rest of your system. Windy City HVAC Repair installs ductless systems for homeowners in Bolingbrook and the surrounding suburbs from our office at 400 N Schmidt Rd.

What a ductless mini-split is

A mini-split has an outdoor heat pump connected to one or more indoor units by a small refrigerant line that runs through a wall opening a few inches across. Each indoor unit has its own thermostat, so each room or zone can be set independently. Because it’s a heat pump, the same system provides both air conditioning and heat. Want whole-home heating and cooling through your existing ducts? See ducted heat pump installation.

Rebates: ComEd incentives in 2026

ComEd offers rebates on qualifying ductless systems. Rebates are subject to change, and the program may end. Ask us what currently applies. Systems need AHRI certification, and the home must be on a ComEd residential account; customers in towns served by municipal electric utilities may not be eligible. We’ll help you confirm what applies before you buy.

Rebates are subject to change, and utility programs may end or change without notice. Eligibility is determined by the utility, not by Windy City HVAC Repair.

Ductless mini-split FAQ

Our ductless systems are rated for heating and cooling in Illinois. We’ll help you pick the right model for how you’ll use the space and whether you have backup heat.

It depends on the system. Multi-zone outdoor units can serve several indoor units; we’ll size it to your rooms.

Yes, including Romeoville, Plainfield, Joliet and other nearby suburbs.

The price depends on the number of zones and indoor units, the type of indoor unit (wall-mounted, ceiling cassette or ducted), the system’s efficiency and cold-climate rating, the length of the refrigerant line, and any electrical work needed. A single-zone system for one room costs less than a multi-zone system for the whole house. We look at the space and give you an upfront quote. Call 312-500-4822.

A single-zone installation is often done in a day. A multi-zone system, a long line-set run or new electrical circuits can take longer. We’ll confirm the schedule when we quote your project, so you know what to expect before installation day.

It can for some homes, but not all. Many Bolingbrook homes use a mini-split alongside their existing furnace and AC to fix problem rooms. A whole-home ductless system can work in a well-insulated home, but whether you need backup heat depends on the model and the home. We’ll go over the options with you during the assessment. If whole-home heat is the goal, compare furnace replacement and heat pump installation.

Rinse or vacuum the washable filters in each indoor unit about once a month during heavy use, and keep leaves, snow and debris away from the outdoor unit. A yearly professional service, including cleaning the coil and blower wheel, checking the drain and testing performance, helps prevent odors, clogs and loss of efficiency.

Yes. Indoor units are generally much quieter than a window AC because the compressor sits outside. The exact sound level depends on the model and fan speed, and manufacturers publish decibel ratings. We’ll share the specifications for the Rheem or Durastar model we recommend.
